SaskPower Tours
As Saskatchewan’s supplier of electricity, SaskPower has a strong history in the province. In
southern Saskatchewan, three SaskPower generating stations and one environmental operation are
open to the public for tours. To learn more about these facilities, call any of the numbers listed
below to book your tour.
Shand Power Station
Located 10 kilometres southeast of Estevan, Shand is named after the
original coal mining settlement. Shand’s net generating capacity is
276 MW.

SaskPower Shand Greenhouse
The Greenhouse uses waste heat from the adjacent Shand Power
Station to grow almost 500,000 seedlings each year, which are used in
community conservation projects and to reclaim disturbed lands.
Tours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. For weekend tours,

Boundary Dam Power Station
Located 6.4 kilometres south of Estevan, SaskPower’s largest coal-fired
power station has a net generating capacity of 828 MW.

Poplar River Power Station
Located 10 kilometres southeast of Coronach in south-central
Saskatchewan, Poplar River Power Station has a net generating
capacity of 582 MW.
Tours: Tours take place at 9:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. from March through
December. Call (306) 267-2078 one day in advance. Tours cover the
power station and local coal mine.
