case, the windings should be well insulated from the heat carrier.<br />

<strong>The</strong> winding material (copper, silver) can be heated to a<br />

temperature <strong>of</strong> -7000C <strong>and</strong> since the windings <strong>of</strong> the rotor are located<br />

in the field <strong>of</strong> action <strong>of</strong> centrifugal forces, they will work in<br />

the area <strong>of</strong> plastic deformations.<br />

As an example <strong>of</strong> a system with a turbodynamo method <strong>of</strong> converting<br />

(<br />

heat energy into electrical energy, let us examine the diagram in<br />

Fig. 3.11 [50]. <strong>The</strong> working parameters <strong>of</strong> a cycle are given on this<br />

diagram. A nuclear reactor serves as the source <strong>of</strong> heat energy.<br />

With the aid <strong>of</strong> a liquid-metal heat carrier (potassium <strong>and</strong> sodium<br />

alloy) <strong>of</strong> the first system, heat f~om the reactor is transferred<br />

is heated, vaporized, <strong>and</strong> superheated <strong>and</strong>, in this state, it enters<br />

a mercury turbine which brings into rotation the electric generator<br />

<strong>and</strong> the pumps <strong>of</strong>' the first <strong>and</strong> second systems.<br />

<strong>The</strong> mercury which has passed through the turbine goes through<br />

the condenser <strong>and</strong> supercooler; then it enters the mercury Pump <strong>and</strong><br />

further - for cooling tile generator - <strong>and</strong> into the bearings.<br />

Figure 3.12 shows a section <strong>of</strong> a combined rotating unit.<br />
