Figure 3.81 shows an elastic-dampiný support!w.iith a linear<br />

characteristic, made in the form <strong>of</strong> a thin ring installed between<br />

the rim <strong>of</strong> the bearing <strong>and</strong> the housing <strong>of</strong> the turbine. '<strong>The</strong> necessary<br />

pliability <strong>of</strong> the ring is<br />

ensured by sdlecting its.thiqkness <strong>and</strong><br />

fitting a combination <strong>of</strong> projections formed by grinding the faces'<br />

on the outside <strong>of</strong> the ring <strong>and</strong>'rounding it <strong>of</strong>f on the inside. <strong>The</strong><br />

second ring Is solid <strong>and</strong> unshaped. 'It intensifies 'the damping<br />

ability <strong>of</strong> the first ring because <strong>of</strong>. the gap between it <strong>and</strong> the<br />

outer rim <strong>of</strong> the bearing. .<br />

Figure 3.82 illustrates the design <strong>of</strong> an elastic-damping<br />

support with a nonlinear characteristic. After the gap h is eliminated<br />

<strong>and</strong> a rigid shaft sleeve -is ýncluded, the sqpport changes Ats<br />

characteristics; now its rigidity becordes greater. Sipce the g4<br />

h is small, the working fluid in it dampens the vibrations.<br />

Figure 3.83 is the diagram <strong>of</strong> a shaft with a rigid support 1 <strong>and</strong><br />

a dampened support 2. Upon th6 displacement <strong>of</strong> the suppor.t a piston<br />

noves in a cylinder filled with A viscous liquid which- flows through<br />

special openings in the pistons <strong>and</strong>:absorbs the energy <strong>of</strong> the<br />
