“FOREIGN POLICY OF
AZERBAIJAN AND THE
KARABAKH CONFLICT” WAS
DISCUSSED
On June 4, 2013, Caspian Strategy
Institute (HASEN), held a roundtable
meeting on the “Foreign Policy of
Azerbaijan and the Nagorno-Karabakh
Conflict.” Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry
Spokesman Elman Abdullayev attended
the meeting as a guest. Saving
the occupied Azerbaijani territories
by Armenia and solution offers in this
regard were discussed in the meeting.
Abdullayev said, “Our most fundamental
is to save the occupied territories,
this right is vested by international law.
We have a great potential to save our
territories from Armenian occupation.”

RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION
STARTED
Construction of Turkmenistan -Afghanistan-
Tajikistan railroad started
with the participation of the President
of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov,
President of Tajikistan
Emomali Rahman and President of Afghanistan
Hamid Karzai on June 5. At
the ceremony, first railway tracks of the
123-kilometer Atamurat - İmamancar -
Andhoi line was placed.
AZERBAIJAN - RUSSIA
JOINT ENERGY SYSTEMS
AGREEMENT WAS SIGNED
In the scope of 4th Forum titled “Russia –
Azerbaijan: Interregional Dialogue 2013”,
the two countries agreed upon making
joint policies on June 7. At the Russia –
Azerbaijan: Interregional Dialogue Forum
which was held in Volgograd, Russian
Energy Minister Anton Inyutsin gave a
speech after the signing of the agreement.
Inyutsin said, “We have arrived a new
phase of the development of energy
systems and reliability. This agreement
will conduct a joint policy to allow the development
and modernization of energy
systems.” Industry and Development
Minister of Azerbaijan Natig Aliyev talked
about the importance of this agreement.
In the framework of the Forum, concerning
the relations in the fields of economy,
science and culture, other agreements are
signed between Russia and Azerbaijan.

RUHANI’S VICTORY IN IRAN
Presidential elections was held in Iran on June 14,
2013 which resulted in the victory of Hasan Ruhani.
The attitude of both reformists and regime supporters
determined the result. According to the announcement
made by Iran Election Center, Hasan
Ruhani won 15% of votes and became the new President of
the Islamic Republic of Iran. According to the official
results, from 50,483,192 voters, only 36,704,156 went to the
polls. In the first round, 35,458,747 votes were valid and
18,618,329 votes were in favor of Hasan Ruhani. Turnout
