IS RE-ELECTED FOR THE
THIRD TIME
The results of Presidency elections was announced
on October 9 and İlham Aliyev was re-elected as
President for the 3rd time by taking 85 percent of the
votes. The fans of Aliyev hit the streets following the
announcement of the results.
It was stated that the progress that Azerbaijan has made in
the last decade affected the results, and according to experts,
Azerbaijan has advanced economically and thereby strengthened
its place in the international arena, and also showed a
good performance on reinforcing the basis of the state.
Azerbaijan joined UN Security Council as temporary mem-

Azerbaijan took over the Term
President of the UN Security Council
from Australia on October 1, 2013.
Spokesman of Azerbaijani Ministry of
Foreign Affairs Elman Abdullayev gave
information about their mission for
this period and UNSC’s priorities, and
stated that they will give priority to
solving the conflict between Armenia
and Azerbaijan and the Nagorno
Karabakh problem as well as the Syria
crisis which is on the agenda of the
international community. Azerbaijan
is the most important power among
the South Caucasus countries with
its developing economy, and it has
increased its role in diplomatic
relations with UNSC Term Presidency.

TURKMEN OIL WILL BE
TRANSPORTED VIA BTC IN
2014
The duration of the contract signed
between Dragon Oil and SOCAR
Trading which is within the body
of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan
(SOCAR), has been prolonged until
2014. According the assumptions of
international experts, Turkmenistan
is the fourth largest natural gas
producing country in the world, and
there are 0,1 billion tons of oil and 17,5
trillion cubic meters of natural gas on
the Turkmen shores of the Caspian
Sea.
