CRITICAL ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE<br />

PROTECTION CONFERENCE AT HASEN<br />

On July 10, in Turkey and all around the world, “Critical Energy<br />

Infrastructure Protection” issue was discussed in detail.<br />

Center on Foreign Policy and Security Studies Expert Prof.<br />

Dr. Mesut Hakkı Caşın made ​a comprehensive presentation.<br />

Turkey’s largest and least known problems of critical energy<br />

infrastructure, energy security and the strategic structure of<br />

the new world order were the main subjects of the speech.<br />

UNINTERRAPTED TRANSPORT IS POSSIBLE<br />

FOR TURKIC REPUBLICS<br />

Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States convened<br />

in Baku between 3 to 4 July. UTIKAD also made ​important<br />

contributions to the work at Cooperation Council of Turkic<br />

Speaking States. The Secretary General of the Council Halil<br />

Akıncı, Azerbaijani Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov,<br />

Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Askar Zhumagaliyev and<br />

Transport, Maritime and Communication Affairs Minister attended<br />

the Turkish Council meeting. The three countries, with<br />

‘sister relations between Baku, Aktau and Samsun sea ports’<br />

memorandum, signed “Protocol on Cooperation in the Field of<br />

Transportation Development.”<br />

HISTORICAL AGREEMENT<br />

OF TURKMENISTAN<br />

At the 17th meeting held in Turkmenistan’s capital<br />

Ashgabat, an agreement was signed for the protocol<br />

on the establishment of TAPI, Ltd consortium<br />

and purchase and sale of natural gas between<br />

Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.<br />

Starting in 1993, the project which will carry<br />

Turkmen gas through Afghanistan and Pakistan to<br />

South Asia, accelerated in the last few years and<br />

also India involved in the project recently. For Turkmen<br />

management which exports natural gas to Russia, China<br />

and Iran and seeking to diversify power lines, the project<br />

has great importance. Turkmenistan has already signed<br />

an agreement with India and Pakistan. Recently at the<br />
