3rd BAKU INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN<br />
FORUM<br />
3rd Baku International Humanitarian Forum organized between<br />
September 31 and November 3 gathered more than 750<br />
participants from 10 countries. President of Azerbaijan İlham<br />
Aliyev gave a keynote speech at the Forum with the participation<br />
of the 9th President of Turkey Süleyman Demirel. The<br />
role of Turkey in Caucasus and Middle East and the policies<br />
to be adopted by Azerbaijan in the new period were discussed<br />
during the Forum.<br />
NEGOTIATIONS WITH IRAN ENDED UP WITH NO<br />
AGGREEMENT<br />
EU High Representative Catherine Ashton announced that<br />
no agreement was reached during the negotiations conducted<br />
between Iran, Germany and 5 permanent members of UN<br />
Security Council. EU High Representative Catherine Ashton<br />
made a statement in the joint press conference organized in the<br />
International Conference Center with the participation of the<br />
Ministers of Foreign Affairs of USA, Russia, UK, France and<br />
Germany. With regard to the negotiations which lasted three<br />
days, Ashton stated that constructive steps were taken but there<br />
is still divergence. US Secretary of State John Kerry said, “We<br />
are still committed to prevent the proliferation of the weapons<br />
of mass destruction and to protect our allies. Especially the<br />
security of our allies in that region is very important for us.”<br />
Kerry stated that the diplomacy alternative will not be on the<br />
shelf forever, and a chance should be given to diplomacy.<br />

ALIYEV PAID HIS FIRST<br />
OFFICIAL VISIT TO TURKEY<br />
İlham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan, made his first<br />
official visit to Turkey as a tradition following his third<br />
victory in presidential elections held on November 9.<br />
The President of Azerbaijan İlham Aliyev had interviews with<br />
President Abdullah Gül and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip<br />
Erdoğan as part of his official program. The main discussion<br />
topic of the meetings was particularly energy, economy and the<br />
depth of the relations between two countries. One of the prominent<br />
subjects in Erdoğan – Aliyev meeting was the Trans Anatolian<br />
Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) which begins in Azerbaijan’s Shah<br />
Deniz natural gas field and goes through Turkey. TANAP is the most<br />
important chain in transporting the natural gas resources in the<br />
region to Europe and which will make a great contribution to the<br />
