Paints Drive-In Widescreen
In Just About Eight Hours
Using a maneuverable, automatic scaffold
and lift, one man recently painted the
120x50-foot widescreen at the 63rd Street
Drive-In Theatre, Kansas City, Mo., in
approximately eight hours. Called the
Strato-Tower, the machine can operate
from ground level to 100 feet, and in the
job at the 63rd Street Drive-In the painter
operated from the basket "crow's nest."
The liquid plastic paint which was
applied is known as Dura-Brite and contains
an inert granular material which
gives a specular surface highly desir-

Engineers, Inc., which also furnished
the engineer-painter, and the material and
installation were handled by National Theatre
Supply.
The 63rd Street Di-ive-In Theatre is
managed by E. S. Sutter and Alex Shniderman,
officers of the S&S Operating Co.
E&S Theatre Enterprises, Inc.. is owner
of the drive-in and also of an ice skating
rink operated in conjunction with it.
