we received many fine comments on this
METROGOLDV/YN-MAYER
"1 Day at Black Rock (MGM)—Spencer
Kobert Ryan, Anne Francis. A picture
.-'Pen.'^e and action, Tracy very good.
Tex. Small-town and rural patronage.
Dream Wife (MGM)—Gary Grant. Deborah
Kerr. Walter Pldgeon. A fair comedy, but
not as big as such a powerful cast would indicate.
However, nothing to be ashamed of.
Your patrons will enjoy it and get their
money's worth. Played Mon.. Tues. Weather:
Play it. Pay percentage and then have
With 'Diablo' Picture
tJidc Clear of Diablo (U-I)—Audie ."Murphy.
Susan Cabot. Dan Duryea, .\udie
Murphy gets the drop on gunman Dan
Duryea, but in spite of his slow draw, Dan
has a part in the story that lets him do
as slick a job of stealing a picture as
we've seen in many a day, and stealing
one from .Audie is no mean trick in
Fruita. We'd been worrying about Audie's
last couple of features since they weren't
doing the business we were paying
for, but this one had enough action and
comedy to get us back in the groove.
Don't pass it up.
more money left than you ordinarily will, if
your situation is like mine. No, I'm not working
for MGM, but it will still please. Played
Small-town and rural patronage,
Mogambo (MGM)—Clark Gable, Ava Gardner,
Grace Kelly. Jungle pictures are not
too popular here, but this is a good one. More
like reality than most of them. The two
women do a wonderful job and this is the best
role I have seen Clark Gable In since "Gone
With the Wind." This picture is all right and
your patrons will enjoy it. Boxoffice gcx)d.
Played Fri., Sat. Weather: Fair.— P. L. Murray,
Strand Theatre, Spiritwood, Sask. Smalltown
and rural patronage.
Quo Vadis (MGM)—Robert Taylor, Deborah
Kerr, Peter Ustinov. The religious
theme of this fine show is bound to bring In
patrons that seldom, if ever, attend the
movies. In spite of its length and rain on
Monday, it pulled my best gross in quite some
time and that for a real small rural community
augers well for any show. Orchids
to Deborah Kerr for a fine Job of acting. She
wa-s perfect for the part. Color Is fuzzy;
sound is fair, with quite a few splices
throughout the film. Played Sun.. Mon.
Weather: Fair Sunday, rain Monday.—I.
Roche. Vernon Theatre. Vernon. Fla. Smalltown
PARAMOUNT
LiTlng It Up (Para)- Dean Martin, Jerry
startling, but disappointing, too. We h.ivc
beautiful color as most VIstaVLslon Is, but a
little hard to keep in focus some time.s A
pretty good picture: but nothing like "The
Greatest Show on Earth." as we were led to
believe It was. So. don't be fooled. It Is a very
good picture, stood up well for three days and
made a payment on the wldescreen. Played
