To add to this story (well at least kind of) we have this further update about an upgrade to their control systems at their plant in CA. April 17/2013 "Aremac Heat Treating Plant Performs Upgrade with Super Systems Inc. (SSi) Technology. Aremac Heat Treating, LLC, has been serving the aerospace and commercial manufacturing industries in the western United States since 1968. Committed to achieving the highest level of service through quality, reliability and technical problem solving, Aremac asked SSi to provide a technology infrastructure giving them the ability to achieve those objectives and streamline their operation. Aremac is implementing the SSi controls and software on multiple pieces of equipment that meet their current infrastructure needs with the potential for future expansion if needed. “Super Systems has the right product mix of software and controls, along with a commitment to the heat treating industry, which meets our long term objectives at Aremac,” Ed Grott, General Manager at Aremac, explained. SSi process controllers provide Aremac with flexible recipe-based control that includes remote recipe management, onboard electronic charting for redundancy, and an easy-to-use operator interface. The SuperDATA software suite will provide the underlying Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) application that will be used in all areas of the operation. Real-time and historical information will be quickly accessible throughout the facility. From Nitrex we recieved this press release about an order the company just received from SAPA Profiles (never heard of this company before) for a nitrocarburizing system for a location just outside of Shanghai, China. April 17/2013 "Nitrex Metal received an order from SAPA Profiles to supply a turnkey nitrocarburizing system for its newly acquired extrusion facility in China. The plant located north-east of Shanghai comprises 16 presses with a total capacity of 95k tons. Renamed Sapa Profiles Jiangyin Co. Ltd., this acquisition represents a strategic step in establishing the group’s first aluminum extrusion plant in China. The addition of the Nitrex nitrocarburizing system is part of the group’s capital improvement plan to enhance the capabilities of the plant’s heat treat operations, raise output capacity, and bring new solutions to local customers. Nitrex Metal is supplying a complete system including furnace, racking, control system, and process technology tailored for aluminum extrusion dies. The furnace measures 39” diameter by 59” height (1000 mm x 1500 mm) and can process loads of 4400 lbs (2000 kg). Nitreg®-C nitrocarburizing technology was chosen for better case properties.
