a financially sound company in a growing industry. We are currently looking to add a
Metallurgist- heat treat specialist to our Longview Texas location.
Responsibilities:
• Load testing as responsible for quality and process control of all heat treat processes
• Create and define process steps to meet Engineering requirements as well as new
process development
• Enter Capital Equipment Authorization’s for new equipment and upgrades
• Daily hands on participation with cross functional teams on the manufacturing floor
to assist in trouble shooting and problem solving
• Oversee operational quality control processes
• Provide technical assistance and training for process and technical staff as required
• Test and evaluate induction process of gearing and pins
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Metallurgy, Material Science or related field
• 5-7 years’ experience in process ownership for Heat Treat operations, gearing and
Welding
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, in machining, heat-treating (induction
hardening, atmosphere furnace) and subassembly required
• Subsequent analysis of data, generation of conclusions / recommendations, and
communication to the team, suppliers, and customers via concise technical
reports/presentations is crucial
• Self-starter willing and able to initiate and follow up on projects
• Ability to read drawings and understand engineering requirements
• Ensuring adherence to manufacturing quality standards
• SAP systems knowledge, proficient in Microsoft Office suite
• Experience working in union environment a plus
Predominant Tasks:
• Evaluate thermo-processing results and its effectiveness
• Monitor material performance and evaluate material issues
• Design and direct the testing and/or control of processing procedures
• Evaluate technical specifications factors relating to process or product design
objectives
• Conduct or supervise tests on raw materials or finished products in order to ensure
their quality
• Review new product plans and make recommendations for material selection based
on design objectives, such as strength, weight, heat resistance
• Analyze product failure data and laboratory test results in order to determine causes
of problems and develop solutions
