monster Lindberg Hi Heat Gantry furnace which can be seen below. This thing
has working dimensions of 72" diameter and 16' high and can handle parts up to
15,000 pounds. Additional equipment includes a couple of generators and a few
other pit furnaces including a large salt quench. While Goodrich does some heat
treating in house a great deal is outsourced. I can't imagine a used equipment
dealer buying something so specialized but you never know. We will be curious to
know where this ends up. April 8/2013
Moving to Brazil we see that commercial heat treater TÊCNOTEMPERA, a
commercial heat treater, in Santa Catharina in southern Brazil just successfully
started up their first vacuum furnace. This was purchased from Seco/Warwick
area. While we don't have a clue who is behind this we do understand that it will
offer normalizing, annealing and continuous furnaces. Hey we have to mention
something about Italy for a change (although we will have more about heat
treating in Italy in a few weeks). We see that one of the largest new furnace
builders in the country Cieffe is delivering to Salzgitter in France a turnkey
furnace line for the heat treatment of steel tubes for the oil industry. This is an
automated line capable of handling parts up to 13 meters long with a maximum
temperature of 1120C.
