VISUAL OMNIRANGE RECEIVER (VOR) - A unit designed to receive very high frequency<br />

(VHF) omnidirectional radio navigational aids.<br />

VISUAL RUNWAY - A visual runway is a runway intended solely for the operation of aircraft<br />

<strong>us</strong>ing visual approach procedures.<br />

VOR - Very High Frequency Omnirange Station. A ground-based radio (electronic) navigation aid<br />

transmitting radials in all directions in the VHF frequency spectrum; provides azimuth guidance to<br />

pilots by reception of electronic signals.<br />

WIND-CONE (WIND SOCK) - Conical wind direction indicator.<br />

WIND COVERAGE - Wind coverage is the percent of time for which aeronautical operations are<br />

considered safe due to acceptable crosswind components.<br />

-Y-<br />

YEARLY DAY-NIGHT AVERAGE SOUND LEVEL (Ldn) - The 24-hour average sound levels, in<br />

decibels, for the period from midnight to midnight, obtained after the addition of ten decibels to<br />

sound levels for the periods between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. the following day, averaged over a span of<br />
