ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS FOR MATERIALS BROUGHT BY CONTRACTOR.<br />

(CEMENT, HYSD/T.M.T. /MILD STEEL BARS, HIGH TENSILE STEEL BARS,) ETC.<br />

1) All the materials such as cement, MILD/T.M.T. steel bars, Granite, Marble, Tiles and<br />

Electrical item etc. required for execution of work shall be brought by the contractor at his own<br />

cost.<br />

2) The contractor shall maintain the record of these materials (cement, steel etc.) in the<br />

prescribed proforma and registers as directed by Engineer-in-charge. The sample of<br />

prescribed proforma is attached at the end (Page <strong>No</strong>.82 to 85). These registers shall be<br />

signed by both, the contractors and representative of the Engineer-in-charge. These registers<br />

shall be made available for inspection, verification for the Department as and when required.<br />

These registers shall be in the custody of Department, and shall be maintained by the<br />

Department.<br />

The Contractor shall submit periodically as well as on completion of work, an account of all<br />

materials used by him on the work. In addition, a separate register shall be maintained on site<br />

for recording daily item wise asphalt, cement consumption and also item wise consumption of<br />

other materials. This shall be signed daily by Contractor or his representative and<br />

representative of Engineer-in-charge.<br />

3) The material required only for this work shall be kept in the godown at site. <strong>No</strong> material shall<br />

be shifted outside of the godown site except for the work for which this agreement is entered,<br />

without prior approval of the Engineer-in-charge.<br />

4) The materials i.e. cement, steel, Granite, Marble, Tiles and Electrical Item etc. brought on the<br />

work site shall be accompanied with necessary Company / Manufacturing firm’s test<br />

certificates. In addition these materials shall be tested as per frequency prescribed by the<br />

department and the cost of such testing shall be borne by the contractor. If the test results are<br />

satisfactory, then and then only the material shall be allowed to be used on the work. If the<br />

test results are not as per standards prescribed, these materials shall be immediately<br />

removed from the work site at contractor’s cost. In case of cement, if so requested by the<br />

contractor in writing, material shall be allowed to be used before receipt of test results but this<br />

will be entirely at the risk and cost of the contractor.<br />

5) The contractor shall produce sufficient documentary evidence i.e. bill for the purchase, Octroi<br />

receipts etc., bill for the purchase of materials brought on the work site at once if so requested<br />

by the Department.<br />

6) All these materials i.e. cement, steel, etc. shall be protected from any damages, rains etc. by<br />

the contractor at his own cost.<br />

7) The Contractor will have to erect temporary shed of approved specifications for storing of<br />

above materials at work site at contractor’s cost having double locking arrangements (By<br />

double lock it is meant that godown shall always be locked by two locks, one lock being<br />

owned and operated by Contractor and other by Engineer-in-charge or his authorised<br />

representative ) and the door shall be openable only after both locks are opened.<br />

8) If required, the weighment of cement bags, steel etc. brought by the contractor shall be<br />

carried out by the contractor at his own cost.<br />

9) The contractor shall not use cement and other material for the item to be executed outside the<br />

scope of this contract except for such ancillary small items as are connected and absolutely<br />

necessary for this work as may be decided by the Engineer-in-charge.<br />

10) The Government shall not be responsible for the loss in cement, steel, granite, marble, tiles<br />

and electrical item during transit to work site.<br />

The cement brought by the contractor at the work site store shall mean 50 Kg., equivalent to<br />

0.0347 cubic metre per bag by weight. The rate quoted should correspond to this method of<br />

reckoning. In case of ordinary/controlled concrete, if cement is found short, the shortage /<br />

shortages will be made good by the contractor at his cost.<br />

11) INDEMNITY<br />

The condition regarding indemnity as defined on Page <strong>No</strong>.63 at Sr.<strong>No</strong>. 8.6 will apply mutatis<br />

mutandis in case of materials brought by contractor at the site for the execution of the work<br />

being executed under this contract.<br />

12) In case the materials brought by the contractor become surplus owing to the change in the<br />

design of the work, the materials should be taken back by the contractor at his own cost after<br />

prior permission of Engineer-in-charge.<br />

13) All empty bags or empty asphalt drums shall be the property of contractor and the same shall<br />

be removed immediately after completion of work.<br />
