27. APPROVAL OF CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:<br />

Approval of all materials for the work shall be obtained in writing from Engineer-in-charge or<br />

his representative before its use in the Project.<br />

Before taking up of any construction activity the construction work done earlier shall be got<br />

approved in writing. Any failure on this account may result in the work for which the<br />

Contractor will be solely responsible.<br />

Materials and job mix, etc. shall be got approved in writing atleast 15 days in advanced of the<br />

commencement of the corresponding activity. The testing charges shall be borne by the<br />

Contractor.<br />

Besides the prescribed tests and frequencies any other test of tests over the prescribed<br />

frequency shall also be carried out by the Contractor at his own cost if so directed by<br />

Engineer-in-charge or his authorised representative.<br />

28. CONDITION RELATING TO INSURANCE OF CONTRACT WORK.<br />

Contractor shall take out necessary Insurance Policy/ (viz. Contractors All Risks Insurance<br />

Policy, Erection All Risks Insurance Policy etc. as decided by the Directorate of Insurance) so<br />

as to provide adequate insurance cover for execution of the awarded contract work for total<br />

contract value and complete contract period compulsorily from the “Directorate of Insurance,<br />

Maharashtra State, Mumbai only its postal address for Correspondence is “264, MHADA,<br />

First Floor, Opp. Kalanagar, Bandra (East) Mumbai – 400051” (Telephone <strong>No</strong>s. 26590403/<br />

26590690 and Fax <strong>No</strong>. 26592461/26590403) Similarly, all workmen’s appointed to complete<br />

the contract work are required to insure under workmen’s compensation insurance<br />

policy. Insurance policy/policies taken out from any other Company will not be accepted. If<br />

any contractor has effected Insurance with any insurance company the same will not be<br />

accepted and the amount of premium calculated by the Government Insurance Fund will be<br />

recovered directly from the amount payable to the Contractor for the executed contract work<br />

and paid to the Directorate of Insurance Fund, Maharashtra State, Mumbai, The Director of<br />

Insurance reserves the right to distribute the risks of insurance among the other insurers.<br />

29. DIARY:<br />

Contractor shall maintain, throughout the construction period, a diary in the from of a register<br />

regarding the following :-<br />

i) Daily presence of all categories of labours.<br />

ii) Daily availability and use of machinery and equipment’s on work.<br />

iii) Daily procurement, Consumption and balance of materials on site.<br />

iv) Daily record of various visiting authorities alongwith name of the officers visited and<br />

timing.<br />

v) Details of work executed per day. The register shall be closed on daily basis and<br />

signature of Engineers in charge or his representative should be taken over it.<br />

30. ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL CONDITIONS<br />

30.1 The work shall be carried out in the best workmanship like manner and in strict accordance<br />

with P.W.D. hand book Volume I & II 1960. Edition supplemented by specification attached<br />

and as per Standard Specifications Book of Government of Maharashtra of 1979 and as per<br />

specific order of the Executive Engineer or his representative from time to time.<br />

30.2 The orders issued by the Government in P.W. Department and the Superintending Engineer,<br />

Thane (P.W.) Circle, Thane from time to time regarding construction procedure shall be<br />

binding on the contractor in addition to the specification contained in P.W.D. hand book<br />

Volume I & II and book of standard specification of P.W. Department and the specifications<br />

enumerated above.<br />

30.3 The contractor shall submit day to day account of the materials issued to him and its use and<br />

also monthly progress and programme of work.<br />

30.4 a) The concrete mix design shall be got approved from Engineer in charge and the mix<br />

design shall give preliminary strength of 1.33 times working strength.<br />
