David Jones Like Myer, its direct competition, David Jones (or DJ’s as it’s<br />

affectionately known) spans 2 blocks (separated into men’s and women’s stores)<br />

and offers similar goods. The men’s fashions, in particular, leave a lot to be<br />

Myer The grand dame of Melbourne’s department stores has 12 floors of household<br />

goods, perfume, jewelry, and fashions stretching over 2 blocks. It’s one of the<br />

largest stores in the world. There’s a good food section on the ground floor offering,<br />

among other things, good sushi. The clothes are better here than at David<br />

FASHION<br />

High-fashion boutiques also line the eastern stretch of Collins Street between<br />

the Grand Hyatt and the Hotel Sofitel, and Chapel Street in South Yarra. In<br />

addition, many thousands of retail shops and factory outlets are dotted around<br />

the city, many of them concentrated on Bridge Road near Punt Road and Swan<br />

Street near Church Street in Richmond. You’ll be able to find designer clothes,<br />

many just last season’s fashions, at a fraction of the original price.<br />
