BASIC REQUIREMENTS The minimum Test Pressure at any point of the test section shall be at least equal to the Test Pressure required as per ASME B 31.4 unless otherwise specified by the OWNER. Where the pipeline is to be tested together with pipeline equipment, the maximum test pressure shall not exceed 1.5 times Design Pressure of the equipment. During the Hydrostatic Pressure Test the combined stress shall not exceed 95 percent SMYS of the Line Pipe material based on the minimum nominal wall thickness. The combined stress shall be calculated in accordance with ASME B31.4 (Ref. 402.5). The margin between the Hydrostatic Pressure Test and the combined stress of 95 percent SMYS allows for elevation differences in the test section and/or longitudinal stresses due to bending. Therefore, the elevation differences in any test section shall be limited accordingly. The test medium shall be water. The quality of water shall be as per Clause 6.0. Testing pipeline by air is not allowed in line with ASME B 31.4.
