Venting shall be carried out repeatedly at points in the test section where air might accumulate, e.g. at installation piping, block valves etc. The filling speed shall depend on availability of water and shall not exceed 1.8 m/s. The pressure in front of the scraper shall be carefully monitored and controlled at not less than 2bar. Depending on the elevation profile of the test section and the scrapping pressure, it may be necessary to increase the pressure at the receiver test head in order to control the scraper speed. PRE-TEST REQUIREMENTS 9.1 Requirements Prior to Pressurizing A pre-test check shall be performed, detailing the status and location of each item to be inspected before pressurizing is commenced. The check-list shall include the following: • A valid Permit to Work is in force. • The test section has been isolated from all other pipeline sections. • All temporary piping, test headstand other equipment connected to the test section will be pre-tested to a pressure higher than the maximum test pressure which it will be subjected too. • The test section has been filled completely and all residual air vented off. • No pipeline sectionalizing valve is included in the test section. All instruments and gauges to be used during pressurizing and testing have been calibrated and valid test certificates have been approved by the OWNER • All warning notices, marker tapes, protective barriers and other safety equipment have been positioned; a tool box talk conduct and the necessary authorities have been informed. • The required personnel at affected installations have been informed of the commencement and the duration of the hydrostatic pressure test. • Communication systems have been established, are functioning correctly and back-up equipment is available. • The personnel engaged in the testing work have been briefed on the implementation of emergency plans, should these be necessary, and a "Tool Box" meeting has been conducted. n:\513-mh-2145-rkpl\11 engineering\11.8 pipelines\06 spec\specification for pipeline hydrotesting\mh2145-c000- pl-spc-0011.doc MH2145-C000-PL-SPC-0011 RevA Page 37 of 71
