CREATORS OF THE SUMMIT MARC BALAY directeur général adjoint SOGELYM STEINER CHARLES BALCH head european sf & ib HYPO REAL ESTATE BANK INTERNATIONAL Marc Balaÿ has more than 15 years’ experience in real estate with expertise in customer relations. Defining real estate strategy, key development projects, asset management and working with investors are his main abilities. He was previously the regional director of Jones Lang LaSalle in Lyon before becoming Directeur Général Adjoint for SOGELYM STEINER in 2000. He has been a Member of the Board of Lyon since 2003. Charles Balch has been working within the property financing sector since the mid-1980s. In charge of Origination of the European Platform, he is currently Managing Director, Europe and heads the Structured Finance and Investment Banking Team for Europe at Hypo Real Estate Bank International. His previous role at Aareal Bank was as Head of Global Clients, building a multi-cultural acquisition team, and as a ‘Bereichsleiter’ within the Head Office, managing certain country teams. ROBERT BALICK managing director CARGILL VALUE INVESTMENT FABIO BANDIRALI managing director EUROHYPO AG Mr. Balick is Managing Director for Cargill Value Investment. Based in Paris. Mr. Balick is responsible for real estate investments in France, Italy and Belgium. Prior to joining Cargill Value Investment in 1997, Mr. Balick was Vice President in the Real Estate Investment Banking unit of Salomon Brothers covering France, Belgium, Spain and Portugal. Mr.Balick received an MBA with specialization in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a Bachelor in Mathematics from the Courant Institute at New York University. Fabio was born in 1958 in Milan. He received a degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University and started his career in banking in 1983. In 1997 he joined RHEINHYP, later merged into EUROHYPO, and opened the Italian Branch in Milan. It became one of the most important branches inside the bank, involved in all the most important deals of the italian real estate market. He is Vice President of AICI - Italian Real Estate Advisors Association, member of the Board of CNCC - Italian Shopping Centers Association, member of the Scientific Committee of Expo Italia Real Estate. JUAN BARBA general manager AAREAL BANK ROGER BARRIS managing director MERRILL LYNCH INTERNATIONAL Juan has always been closely related to the real estate sector in Spain and in the US. Analyst at Arthur Andersen Real Estate and Real Estate Investment Mgr in Principal Financial Group. He became a Mortgage Manager at Aareal Bank in 2000 and now GM in Spain. Aareal bank is a real estate specialist providing property financing solutions in over 20 countries - portfolio of Euro 25,000m. He studied at the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas a Degree in Law and in Business Administration, Major in Finance. Professor of Real Estate Finance in the Real Estate Master Program of the INSTITUTO DE EMPRESA - IE business school for six years, he participates as a professor in the real estate program of the Options & Futures Institute since 2004. Roger Barris is a Managing Director and the European Head of Merrill Lynch’s Global Principal Investment (“GPI”) group. Roger joined GPI in May 2005 from Starwood Capital, where he was the partner in charge of Europe. Prior to Starwood, Roger was the European Head of Deutsche Bank’s Real Estate Opportunities Group. Prior to DB, Roger was the head of the Mortgage Desk for Goldman Sachs in Europe. ANDREW BARROW partner TRAVERS SMITH MO BARZEGAR managing director europe AMB PROPERTY CORPORATION Andrew Barrow is a senior partner at Travers Smith, one of the City of London’s leading law firms, specialising in the investment and development of all kinds of commercial real estate. Recent deals include the acquisition of Woolgate Exchange and Minster Court in the City of London, the development of London’s Swiss Centre and the Victoria Square Shopping Centre in Belfast and various transactions in Paris, Amsterdam and Germany. Mo Barzegar is Managing Director - Europe for San Franciscobased AMB Property Corporation (NYSE: AMB). He has overall responsibility for AMB’s business in Europe, including acquisitions, development and operations. Prior to this he served as AMB’s Director of International Acquisitions, overseeing AMB’s international acquisitions in Mexico, Europe and Asia. Barzegar has been working in the institutional real estate industry since 1987 and has acquired and sold in excess of $2.0 billion of industrial, office, hotel and apartment properties.
SÉBASTIEN BAZIN principal, managing director COLONY CAPITAL LUCINDA BELL head of tax and accounting THE BRITISH LAND COMPANY PLC Mr. Bazin, Principal, Managing Director Europe and Chief Executive Officer of ColonyCapital SAS, Colony’s European operating subsidiary, is responsible for directing Colony’s investment activity in Continental Europe. As such, Sébastien is responsible for the identification, evaluation, and consummation of all new investments in the region, with a particular concentration in France, Spain, and Italy. Prior to joining Colony in 1997, he was the Group Managing Director and General Manager of Immobiliere Hoteliere (“IH”), a French public company, where he was responsible for IH’s corporate finance activities and its worldwide hotel operations. Lucinda is a chartered accountant and has held responsibilities for Corporate Finance, Derivatives, Investor Relations and Financial Control. In April 2001 she was appointed Head of Tax and in June 2003 she was appointed to the new role of Head of Tax and Accounting. She is a member of the HM Treasury Working Party on REITs. She also sits on a number of industry wide committees and working parties including the BPF/IPF/RICS Steering Group on REITs, The BPF Taxation of Property Working Party and EPRA Tax Transparency Committee. DMITRY BESEDOVSKY managing partner ROCKWELL DEVELOPMENTS DR FRANK BILLAND member of board of directors DIFA - DEUTSCHE IMMOBILIEN FONDS AG Dmitry Besedovsky is a founder of Rockwell Developments, a company that assists a number of domestic and international players in the areas of commercial and industrial real estate development and investments in the CIS. Currently, he advises Raven Group, a public UK-based real estate fund with $2.5 bln. under management. Throughout his executive career, Dmitry has been involved in a number of projects related to acquisitions, business development and turn-around. Dmitry has graduated from the Executive MBA Program of the University of Chicago. Mr. Besedovsky is a co-founder of Moscow Club of Chicago GSB and is a Member of the Oversight Committee for Kidsave International. After training as a bank employee Dr. Frank Billand studied political economy. In 1984 he started his professional career at Hochtief AG and left this company in 2003 as spokesman for the management area of Hochtief development. Since 2003 Dr. Frank Billand has been a member of the board of management of DIFA Deutsche Immobilien Fonds AG, a part of the Union Investment Group of the Volks- und Raiffeisenbanken Association. His main responsibilities are currently the acquisition and sale of properties and shopping centers in Germany, Austria, Italy, Scandinavia, the Netherlands and Central Europe as well as project development, building activies, real estate marketing and communication. GORDON BLACK managing director HEITMAN JAMES (“JIM”) BLAKEMORE md & head re europe LEHMAN BROTHERS INTERNATIONAL Mr. Black is the Managing Director of Heitman’s European private equity business. Since the mid-1990’s, Mr. Black has had primary responsibility for the group’s investment activities in Europe and is currently based in the firm’s London office. Mr. Black has directed global acquisition and disposition activity exceeding $5 billion. He is the Chairman of Heitman’s regulated commingled funds in Europe and is a member of Heitman’s Board of Managers and Heitman’s International Investment Committee. Jim is a Managing Director at Lehman Brothers and oversees the European division of the Global Real Estate Group. At Lehman Brothers since 1994, Jim originally worked in the CMBS and Large Loans business in New York and subsequently headed up the CMBS and Senior Loan business in Europe for four years before taking over responsibility for the Firm’s real estate business (excluding LBREP, Lehman’s real estate private equity fund) in 2004. The Real Estate Group has committed capital to transactions involving over $13 billion of property assets throughout Europe. STEPHAN BOENNING managing director IXIS AEW EUROPE JEAN-CLAUDE BOSSEZ chairman VECTRANE Stephan Boenning is Managing Director of IXIS AEW Deutschland, where he is responsible for the acquisition of real estate single assets and portfolios. Mr. Boenning has been working in the real estate business for almost 15 years. Prior to this role he held various senior level positions. He was Managing Director of AXA Investment Managers and Aachener Grundvermögen, where he was in charge of real estate investments and fund managing. Before that he was working for WestInvest, a company of DEKA Investments as leader of the investment department. In this roles he was able to originate new investments of around Euro 3,5 bn.
