Previously he was a Managing Director at Deutsche Bank and Bankers Trust in charge of real estate acquisition in Europe. He lead invetsments of more than 3 billion euros including the acquisition of the ISM group, the Arts Hotel, and Vectrane. He is a graduate from HEC. David Seddon was previously an International Director at Jones Lang LaSalle from 1990 to 2005, and founding partner in 1991 of Jones Lang LaSalle’s European Business Team, specialising in investment advisory services to cross-border investors in Continental Europe. In 2005 David joined the main board of Teesland plc as European CIO, with responsibility for growing Teesland iOG’s European fund management platform and the launch of a new generation of multi-sector funds. David is a Chartered Surveyor, and has worked exclusively on business in Continental Europe for 25 years since joining Jones Lang LaSalle in Frankfurt in 1981. DR LUDEK SEKYRA chairman of the board SEKYRA GROUP AS JONATHAN (“JOS”) SHORT chief executive PRAMERICA REAL ESTATE INVESTORS LIMITED JUDr. Ludek Sekyra was born in Cesk˛ Krumlov forty-two years ago. Since he finished school he has been living and working in Prague. JUDr. Ludek Sekyra, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sekyra Group, a.s., studied at the Faculty of Law of Charles’ University where he also worked for a short time with specialization in politics and jurisprudence. Later, he became a partner at renowned law firm. Today he is the head of the largest real-estate group in the Czech Republic. Mr Short joined Pramerica in January 2000. He led the team that executed the Banimmo Real Estate, Bauwert, Dewag and Sunrise UK and Sunrise Germany transactions. He sits on the boards of Big Yellow, First Sloane Street (Hemingway) and was President of the board of Banimmo Real Estate, which was sold in October 2002. He is Shareholder Representative at Bauwert Property Group and DeWAG. Mr. Short is also very involved in Pramerica Financial’s investment in Arlington. THIERRY SIMON global head real estate & hotel group CALYON EDWARD (“ED”) SISKIND managing director GOLDMAN SACHS INTERNATIONAL He spent 16 years in different European countries, developing relationships with Corporates, managing subsidiaries and finally as Global Head of the Financial Institutions Group for Credit Lyonnais. In 2003, he was promoted Global Head of the Real Estate division for CALYON and became member of the Management Committee of Credit Agricole Group in July 2006. Additionally, he is Counsellor of Foreign Commerce for France, Director of Oblilion and of CA Immobilier. Education: Centrale Lille; Executive MBA HEC-CPA, Paris. Ed Siskind is a Managing Director and Head of European Real Estate at Goldman Sachs International “GSI”. In this role, Ed oversees GSI’s European real estate advisory, finance and investment activities, including the Whitehall Street family of funds. Ed is member of the Whitehall Street Investment Committee, the Board of Directors of the Archon Group and the Steering Committee for Harvard University’s Real Estate Academic Initiative. Ed earned his B.A. from Princeton University in 1998 and resides in London with his wife Lucinda and daughter Leila. JOHN SLADE managing director DTZ GROUP RICHARD SMEE partner real estate group ERNST & YOUNG LLP He is responsible for a team with directors all over the globe, which deal in the largest cross -border investment transaction. Over the last year, DTZ has been responsible for turnover deals in UK and mainland Europe of around Euro 20 billion. Highlights included: the sale of the Kanam Portfolio in Paris for Euro 1.2 billion; the largest deal so far done in retail warehousing in Sweden for Euro 300 million and significant advise to Australian Limited Property Unit Trusts purchasing in Australia. John formerly was Chief Executive of Richard Ellis City and had his own niche practice Slade & Co. Richard Smee is an accountant and a senior partner in the UK firm of Ernst & Young LLP. He has spent some 25 years working with clients in all areas of the real estate sector, together with companies in the construction and support services sectors. He is currently focused on providing transaction support services and public flotations and has been much involved in the creation of quoted Synthetic REITS and development vehicles operating variously throughout Europe and India.
ERIK SONDÉN managing director SOCIÉTÉ GÉNÉRALE ARNE SORENSON evp & cfo MARRIOTT INTERNATIONAL INC. Erik Sondèn is Head of European Real Estate Client Origination and Advisory. Erik has more than 20 years experience of the major European property markets as a lender, principal and investment banker. Prior to joining Société Générale, Erik has held senior positions with Deutsche Bank, Jones Lang Lasalle, Cushman & Wakefield and Nordea. Erik is a graduate from the Stockholm School of Economics. Arne M. Sorenson is Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and President, Continental European Lodging. Mr. Sorenson is responsible for lodging operations and development in the continental European region as well as the company’s finance, treasury and financial planning and analysis functions. Previously, Mr. Sorenson was Senior Vice President, Business Development for Marriott International, Inc. He was responsible for pursuing strategic growth relationships, including partnerships and acquisitions, across all lodging brands on a worldwide basis. This included an active leadership role in international strategy and expansion, joint venture activity and mergers and acquisitions. Michael is the client partner for a number of the firm’s major real estate clients and specialises in development, financing and joint venture work acting for both institutions and developers. Michael is a “Leading Individual” practitioner in Chambers Directory 2005/6 and in the Legal 500 2005. He is also listed as one of the World’s Leading Real Estate Lawyers in the Euromoney Legal Group Guide and the Chambers World Guide 2002. GAYLE STARR senior vice president AMB PROPERTY CORPORATION FRANK STEFFEN senior director, europe HYPO REAL ESTATE BANK AG Gayle Starr is Senior Vice President of Capital Markets at AMB Property Corporation and its nine co-investment funds. With 21 years of experience in all aspects of industrial property ownership including development and construction, property management, leasing, asset management, finance and dispositions, she now oversees all secured and unsecured debt internationally and domestically. Averaging 10 financing deals annually and responsible for over 30 lender relationships, she designs and structures complex debt transactions. Frank started his career at Deutsche Bank AG, Germany. He has more than 11 years experience in commercial real estate financing. He is responsible for the banks first development finance in Russia. Before Frank joined the CEE team he was Head of Business Development Europe and Senior Risk Manager for the bank’s US, UK and Asian lending business. Prior to that at Hypo Real Estate Bank International predecessor HVB he was involved in the bank’s commercial real estate lending senior risk management and in structuring closed end real estate funds for HVB’s private clients. DAVID STEIN chairman THE STEIN GROUP NOAH STEINBERG chairman & ceo WALLIS REAL ESTATE After a distinguished career as a resort developer in the U.S. (building more than 4,000 homes and creating such resorts as the billion-dollar Monarch Beach development in Southern California), Stein moved to Spain where he co-founded the Spanish real estate company, MedGroup. In 2001, he created The Stein Group Hotels specializing in owning and operating small, luxury hotels. The group has 18 hotels in Europe, is a partner with Sol Melia in Luxury Lifestyle Hotels & Resorts and publishes LUX magazine. Noah Steinberg, 38, is the chairman and chief executive officer of Wallis Real Estate. An American citizen, he has worked in Hungary with the Wallis Group since 1990. In his current position since 1999, he was responsible for establishing Wallis Real Estate and oversees the group’s investment and development businesses, its office, retail and industrial projects and its real estate services portfolio with an annual turnover in excess of 100 million Euros. Mr. Steinberg is a graduate of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University (BA), and the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna in Austria (MA).
