Lab 6.3: Creating a page navigation component<br />

In th<strong>is</strong> lab you will create a page navigation component that will be added to the Menu - News<br />

component to allow users to scroll through pages of results.<br />

Time needed<br />

It will take approximately 30 minutes to complete th<strong>is</strong> lesson.<br />

Lesson 6.3.1: Page navigation components<br />

A page navigation component provides navigation controls that are used to navigate a set of results<br />

generated by menus, navigators, and search elements.<br />

A page navigation element can generate two kinds of page navigation controls:<br />

Shuttle controls<br />

<strong>The</strong>se are used to provide navigation relative to the current page. Th<strong>is</strong> includes sequential linking<br />

to the previous or next page of results and quick linking to the first and last pages in the set.<br />

Paging controls<br />

<strong>The</strong>se are used to provide navigation according to the page number of the result set. If all page<br />

numbers are not d<strong>is</strong>played, a l<strong>is</strong>t of page number links <strong>is</strong> d<strong>is</strong>played, along with a continuation<br />

link for access to the previous or next set of page numbers.<br />

You will now create a page navigation component that will be used to add paging functionality to your<br />
