Lab 8.3: Simplifying an authoring template Content authors are usually not highly technical users. To improve the usability of your content authoring system, you should construct your authoring templates so that they provide the simplest authoring experience possible for your content authors. Time needed It will take approximately 30 minutes to complete this lesson. During this lab you will revisit the News authoring template and make further changes to the template so that the content authoring form will only display the following: v A Save > Save and close button v Some user help v A Display title field v A Body field v An Image field v A Category selection field Task 8.3.1: Simplify an authoring template During this task you will edit the News authoring template to simplify the content authoring form. Procedure 1. Log out and log in with your administrator user name and password: xyzad,min | passw0rd 2. Open the News authoring template in edit mode. 3. Go to the Form Properties section and make the following selections. a. In the Content form layout field, select No Sections. b. Select the check boxes to hide all buttons except the Save and close and Save and approve buttons. c. Select the Hide bottom toolbar option. d. Enter the following text in the Content form help text field: To create a News item, enter a title, add your news item to the Body field, select a category if required, and then click Save and close. 4.
