On The Beach: Gems from the Manly Swimwear Collection
Manly Art Gallery & Museum, West Esplanade Reserve
An exhibition exploring Manly’s unique collection of swimwear
and beach paraphernalia. From the woollen ‘neck to knees’
of the Edwardian era, to the skimpy ‘itsy bitsy’ bikini -
Manly’s collection documents the evolving fashions and
styles of swimwear and our changing relationship with the
beach. Innovation and invention through changing design
and materials used in swimwear will be on display for all to
see! Curated by Sarah Johnson with Lorraine Foster. Closed
Mondays.
2 Sept 2011 - 14 Aug 2012 10am - 5pm
