Amazing Stories: Innovation & Invention
Woronora Cemetery, 121 Linden Street
Sutherland Shire Spinners & Weavers will be demonstrating
the craft of spinning yarn. Members will have an assortment
of Spinning Wheels on display and tell the history of these
machines, especially how innovation and invention of their
design has changed throughout the years. Wheelchair access,
parking & refreshments available.

Bus and walking tours of the Crematorium and areas of
historical interest. Free horse and carriage rides. Sutherland
Medieval Regiment display on weaponry, armour - combat
re-enactment shows 10.30am & 2pm. Meet Funeral Directors
on site. Cemetery grave digging equipment and machinery
display. Spinners and weavers demonstrating their art Pipe
band entertainment. Free sausage sizzle and devonshire
tea. Parking available. Wheelchair access and refreshments
available.

century to become a world class city in the 21st century.
Come along to Customs House to see how our built
environment has been shaped and planned over this time,
with a series of lunch time talks featuring Ian Jack, Colleen
Morris, Paul Ashton, Robert Freestone and Graham Jahn. An
associated display will be at Customs House throughout April

The Dictionary of Sydney is a new kind of history: online,
growing and changing. From the earliest human habitation to
the present, the Dictionary is a treasure trove of documents,
images, maps, sounds and film. Join Dictionary historians for
a talk on what the Dictionary is and how to use it! After, join us
for 30 minute hands-on workshops on using the Dictionary.

Motorised mayhem - remaking Sydney’s streets for the
modern world The advent of the motor car dramatically
changed Sydney’s urban environment. Streets were widened
and pedestrians relegated to narrow pavements. Blockboys
and bootblacks made way for bowsers. Asphalt replaced
woodblocks. Dr Lisa Murray, City Historian, will explore the
impact of the motor car on the shape, life and culture of
Sydney’s streets.
