Catherine Hill Bay is a rare mining town, which was<br />
operational from 1873 – 2004. A two-hour walking tour,<br />
starting at Catherine Hill Bay Jetty, will include observations<br />
from international mining consultants, miners and historians<br />
discussing the role of the Jetty in the longevity of mining in<br />
Catherine Hill Bay. The essence of the wharf is what makes<br />
this place unique and the uniqueness of the jetty is celebrated<br />
within the tour. Bring comfortable footwear and sun protection.<br />

2012 is the 20th anniversary of Back to Back Galleries, an<br />
artist-run ceramics gallery. Ceramic artists from the Hunter<br />
region have been invited to participate in an exhibition of<br />
ceramic tiles celebrating the story of the gallery - our heritage<br />
(we are located in what was a butcher shop in historic Cooks<br />
Hill), the vision of the men and women who purchased the site<br />
and later established the gallery, and our hopes for the future.<br />
20 April - 6 May 11am to 5pm Fri, Sat, Sun with<br />

As we approach the long-awaited reopening of the Regal we<br />
recall the people and events that created the cinema, and<br />
celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Heaton and Birmingham<br />
Gardens Community Hall. Local historian David Griffin takes<br />
us from the laying of the foundation stone to the enforced<br />
closure of the little theatre in October of 2006 with an oral<br />
and visual presentation.<br />
