The awards for this year’s outstanding contributions for the
preservation, restoration or additions to heritage buildings or
landscapes will be presented by the Mayor at the Queanbeyan
Museum in Farrer Place on Saturday 14 April at 12noon.

Queanbeyan Historical & Printing Museums, 10-20 Farrer
Place
A combined Open Day for the Queanbeyan Museum and the
Printing Museum featuring a display from the Canberra and
District Historic Engine Club, musical entertainment, food,
guided tours, and an invention trail through the Queanbeyan
Museum. A lively and entertaining day for all the family to visit
and enjoy Queanbeyan’s Museums.

Innovation in Practice - Garden and Building Launch
Queanbeyan Museum, 10 Farrer Place
Stage two of Queanbeyan Museum’s Storage building and a
new easy care heritage garden will be launched. The launch
will feature a talk by the building architect Peter Overton and a
display of low maintenance gardening tips from Queanbeyan
City Council Parks and Gardens.

Find out what volunteering entails at our two Queanbeyan
Museums. Learn what a wide variety of work is done by
volunteers - there is something for everyone! Talk to our
volunteers, and find out how satisfying the work is - we are
active and can do people! Includes a guided tour of the
museums.

Printing Museum Guided Tours
Queanbeyan Printing, 20 Farrer Place
Take a guided tour of Queanbeyan’s unique Printing Museum.
One of the few museums that has fully operational printing
machines dating back to the late 1800s. You can take a
fascinating journey thorough the history of newspaper printing
in Queanbeyan and see these magnificently restored printing
machines in full operating mode. The Museum is open on
Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm to 4pm. The Museum will
be open on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the Heritage
Festival from 2pm to 4pm. Other tours can be arranged upon
request.

Robertson Heritage Railway Station Inc.
Railway and Rural Innovation
Robertson Heritage Railway Station, Yarranga Street
Visit one of the last and best railway station complexes
featuring the innovative precast concrete panel construction
in use early last century and learn how, when and why it was
employed. The modified ‘Per way shed’ exhibits will include
a former track maintenance vehicle and fettlers’ tools from
