CURRENT RESEARCH PROJECTS VEGA project No. 1/2334/05 Comparative study of gamma-aminobutyric acid metabolism as an approach for the understanding of its function in eucaryotic cells. (Tibor Liptaj) The main goals of the project are: a/ comparative study of the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) metabolism in selectedyeasts and filamentous fungi, b/ elucidation the function of GABA in fungi in the context of current hypotheses, c/ investigation of the role of GABA as a bridge of carbon and nitrogen metabolism and the role in differentiation of filamentous fungi and selected animal cells. Project duration: from 2005 to 2007 VEGA projet No.2/5010/5 Study of neuroprotective effects of new pyrolidine derivatives.
