She started to play certain songs on repeat which made the lyrics more<br />

noticeable and pertinent. She clearly wanted me to hear them as they blared<br />

out and occasionally allowed me to pause the CD so that we could talk and<br />

reflect a little on what was being sung. As we listened to Pink, Rose talked<br />

about some of her feelings.<br />

‘You took my hand, you showed me how, you promised me you’d be<br />

around…<br />

I took your words and I believed in everything you said to me…<br />

If someone said three years from now you’d be long gone, I’d stand up<br />

and punch them out, ‘cause they’re all wrong<br />

Rose had initially used recorded music as background and noise to match her<br />

feelings, at times to block them out and certainly to try to prevent us from<br />

thinking about anything. She was able to draw on the board to express herself<br />

without words until she arrived at a point where the songs were allowed to the<br />
