Transported commodities<br />

Most transported commodities loaded and unloaded in the district<br />

of freight transport centre Nitra are as follows: dangerous goods<br />

according to RID (acids, lye, carbide mixtures, diesel, ethanol), coal,<br />

limestone, wood, methyl ester, scrap metal, crushed stone, plastic<br />

products, roadway supports, rolled sheets, grain, vegetal products,<br />

paper products, salt, coke, lime, military material and metallurgical<br />

material.<br />

Freight Transport Centre Nitra is one of the largest centres in the<br />

district of regional transportation administration Bratislava. It is<br />

divided into three transportation districts: Nitra, Prievidza and<br />

Leopoldov.<br />

There are 141 permanent employees. 76 of them belong to the<br />

train staff. They are in charge of handling trains operations and<br />

shunting in all operated stations. One exception is the railway station<br />

(RWSt.) Nováky, where daily shunting activities are provided by ŽSR<br />

employees.<br />

Track sections<br />

The centre provides activities related to transportations in the<br />

following track sections:<br />

- Ivanka pri Nitre – Nitra – Lužianky – Prievidza – Nitrianske Pravno,<br />

- Prievidza – Handlová,<br />

- Lužianky – Zbehy – Leopoldov,<br />

- Zbehy – Radošina,<br />

- Leopoldov – Piešťany – Nové Mesto nad Váhom,<br />

- Nové Mesto nad Váhom – Myjava,<br />

- Trnava – Šelpice – Smolenice,<br />

- Trnava – Cífer – Bratislava-Rača,<br />

- Trnava – Sereď<br />

- Sereď – Siladice.<br />

NITRA<br />

Freight transport centre Nitra provides the operation in 33 tariff<br />

points. Thirteen of them – Nitra, Ivanka pri Nitre, Lužianky, Topoľčany,<br />

Veľké Uherce, Zemianske Kostoľany, Nováky, Prievidza, Handlová,<br />

Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Piešťany, Leopoldov, Hlohovec – operate as<br />

occupied tariff points. Unoccupied points are as follows: Zbehy, Čab<br />

– Sila, Nové Sady, Veľké Ripňany, Radošina, Ludanice, Koniarovce,<br />

Bošany, Chynorany, Veľké Bielice, Oslany, Bystričany, Nitrianske<br />

Pravno, Chrenovec, Čachtice, Vaďovce, Stará Turá, Myjava, Veľké<br />

Kostoľany and Rišňovce.<br />

In the entire freight transport centre Nitra, it is possible for the<br />

customers to load, unload and handle the consignments on sidings<br />

as well as on general loading and unloading tracks in the stations,<br />

except the tariff points Zbehy, Čab - Sila and Oslany. The district has<br />

41 sidings available, all of them are functional.<br />

Services, technical equipment<br />

All tariff points in freight transport centre Nitra are equipped with side<br />

platforms, except stations Topoľčany, Čab – Sila, Nové Sady, Veľké<br />

Ripňany, Koniarovce and Oslany. Stations Nitra, Leopoldov, Hlohovec,<br />

Nové Mesto nad Váhom are equipped with front platform. Loading<br />

gauge to identify excess loading rates is in Nitra, Lužianky, Veľké<br />

Bielice Veľké Kostoľany and in Stará Turá. The centre is also equipped<br />

with wagon weighbridge, and that in Nitra, Lužianky, Topoľčany, Veľké<br />

Bielice and Chrenovec.<br />

Customers<br />

The most important customers in the centre include the following:<br />

- Hornonitrianske bane, with their headquarters in Prievidza and<br />

Handlová. This is where coal, transported by block trains from the<br />

Czech Republic, is supplied to. The coal is further processed in the<br />

plant and then exported by block trains to Nižný Hrabovec, Zemianske<br />

Kostoľany as well as to smaller customers.<br />

- Novácke chemické závody, with their headquarters in Nováky. <strong>ZSSK</strong><br />

<strong>CARGO</strong> transports more than 5 thousand wagons from the plant and<br />

over 10 thousand wagons to the plant annually. In particular, the plant<br />

is supplied with salt from Russia, coke from Poland and lime from<br />

Slavec – Jaskyňa. Acids, lye, carbide mixtures, which are dangerous<br />

goods under the regulations of RID, are mainly exported from here.<br />

- Military material from Russia is unloaded on the siding of the Military<br />

Division Nováky.<br />

- Slovenské elektrárne, a. s., Zemianske Kostoľany is the second<br />

largest thermal power plant in Slovakia, owned by ENO - Enel Nováky.<br />

In particular, lime transported by block trains from Lietavská Lúčka<br />

and coal transported by block trains from the Czech Republic,<br />

Kúty and Malé Straciny are unloaded in this location. Also, coal is<br />

transported by block trains to Nižný Hrabovec from Hornonitrianske<br />

bane, with headquarters in Zemianske Kostoľany.<br />

- Plastika Nitra with headquarters in Ivanka pri Nitre exports plastic<br />

products, especially to the station Košice.<br />

- ECO-QELET loads scrap metal in Nitra, on average, 5 wagons per day,<br />

determined also for export.<br />

- In the unoccupied tariff point Rišňovce, loading on siding of Slovnaft,<br />

a. s., terminal Kľačany resumed. From here, the block trains transport<br />

diesel oil to Veľké Kapušany, on average 3 block trains per week.<br />

Other important customers are: Bekaert, a.s., Hlohovec, Enviro, a. s.,<br />

and Meroco, a. s., operating the siding in Leopoldov, or Kameňolomy<br />

Čachtice. We must not forget the smaller customers, loading the scrap<br />

metal and wood in the stations every day.<br />
