波 爾 城 堡 是 羅 亞 爾 河 畔 城 堡 群 中 最 大 的 一
香 座 城 堡 , 是 中 世 紀 法 國 傳 統 風 格 與 意 大 利
文 藝 復 興 時 期 建 築 風 格 的 完 美 結 合 , 也 是 法 國 最
著 名 的 建 築 之 一 。1519 年 , 法 國 國 王 弗 朗 索 瓦 一
世 為 狩 獵 開 始 興 建 這 處 行 宮 , 歷 經 百 年 才 得 以 完
工 。 而 這 座 城 堡 總 設 計 師 的 名 氣 則 遠 超 它 的 主
人 —— 萊 昂 納 多 . 達 . 芬 奇 在 城 堡 內 創 造 性 的 留
下 一 處 雙 螺 旋 梯 , 這 樣 國 王 和 他 的 妻 子 可 以 同 時

Combining French medieval forms with
Renaissance styling and construction
techniques, the Château de Chambord is one
of the most recognizable buildings in France.
King François I commissioned the magnificent
retreat in 1519. Construction continued
throughout his life to 1547, and technically
it has never been completed. However, descending
the Château’s double-helix staircase
into the Grand Hall, it’s hard to imagine how
it could be improved.

Prague Castle is the embodiment of
European architectural history, housing
the Gothic St. Vitus Cathedral, Romanesque
Basilica of St. George, and several palaces,
gardens and defense towers in Baroque and
Renaissance styles. Most of the castle areas
are open to tourists. However, the castle is
still the region’s seat of power, serving as the
office and residence for the President of the
Czech Republic.
