CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION<br />
MICROPROCESSOR AND SUPPORT<br />
There are two Motorola M6809E processing units within the ES/2. The KERNEL processor<br />
controls the machine and provides the user interface. The COMMS processor deals exclusively<br />
with the AK-ESbus interface, including ESbus and emulation modes.<br />
The processors require the following conditions to run :<br />

Low pulse on the reset line.<br />
Halt line held high<br />
Clock signal ‘E’<br />
Clock signal ‘Q’ leading ‘E’ by 90°.<br />

<br />
EPROM situated at the top of address space.<br />
RAM available.<br />
The processor part of the ES/2 circuit, shown in Figure 2, can be split into the following parts:<br />

Clock generator.<br />
Kernel processor, RAM and ROM.<br />
Comms processor, RAM and ROM and CTC.<br />
