PRE-SERVICE FOSTER CARE/ADOPTION TRAINING MODULES<br />

The <strong>Department</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Children</strong>, <strong>Youth</strong> and <strong>Families</strong> (DCYF) requires all applicants<br />

for foster care and adoption to participate in a Resource Family Pre-Service Assessment<br />

and Training. The curriculum, <strong>of</strong>fered 12 to 16 times annually, is a ten (10) week course<br />

developed by the Adoption Resources, Preparation and Support Unit within DCYF. Each<br />

module is 3 hours for a total <strong>of</strong> 30 hours <strong>of</strong> pre-service training, taught by trained<br />

specialists in preparing foster and adoptive families. In the coming year, the <strong>Department</strong><br />

is also planning to provide these trainings to promote and support guardianship homes.<br />
