TITLE IV-B CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICE 5 YEAR PLAN<br />

2010 – 2014<br />

GOAL I: Establish a continuum <strong>of</strong> family-centered, high quality, culturally relevant, community and neighborhood-based resources in an<br />

integrated service delivery system that partners with natural, formal and informal supports to promote safety, permanency and<br />

well-being for children, youth and families.<br />

1.1 Promote ongoing activities for<br />

prevention <strong>of</strong> child maltreatment<br />

1.1a.1 Establish an organized, statewide<br />

movement to promote prevention <strong>of</strong> child<br />

maltreatment and remaltreatment using<br />

community-based organizations.<br />

1.1a.2 Implement Regional prevention<br />

awareness campaigns through the FCCPs<br />

and Family Community Advisory Boards<br />

(FCABs).<br />

1.1a3 Expand training opportunities<br />

through Breakthrough Series on Risk and<br />

Safety.<br />

In 2010 and continuing, there will be prevention<br />

focused campaigns implemented by each Family<br />

Care Community Partnership Network.<br />

o Decrease recurrence <strong>of</strong> maltreatment<br />

Safety-1: <strong>Children</strong> are first and foremost,<br />

protected from abuse and neglect<br />

Safety-2: <strong>Children</strong> are safely maintained in<br />

their homes when possible and appropriate<br />

1.2 Promote systems reform<br />

activities for the handling <strong>of</strong> child<br />

maltreatment cases to reduce<br />

further trauma to children.<br />

1.2a.1 Improve communication across<br />

systems.<br />

1.2a.2 Explore ways to improve<br />

awareness/understanding <strong>of</strong> roles and<br />

responsibilities among stakeholders within<br />

the legal community and DCYF staff.<br />

1.2a.3 Ensure multidisciplinary training<br />

opportunities to promote<br />

awareness/understanding <strong>of</strong> relevant topical<br />

issues that are designed to reduce additional<br />

trauma to child victims.<br />

1.2a.4 Ensure continued meaningful<br />

By 2011, database interfaces will be<br />

operationalized to facilitate improved<br />

coordination <strong>of</strong> scheduling and case management<br />

across systems.<br />

By 2010, first series <strong>of</strong> multidisciplinary training<br />

opportunities will be identified/held.<br />

Permanency-1: <strong>Children</strong> have permanency<br />

and stability in their living situations.<br />

Well-Being Outcome 1: <strong>Families</strong> have<br />

enhanced capacity to provide for children’s<br />

needs.<br />

Well-Being-3: <strong>Children</strong> receive services to<br />

meet their physical and mental health needs.<br />
