SCHEMES OF SERVICE FOR THE NURSING CADRE

To initiate, guide, coordinate and monitor the formulation and
implementation of policies, plans and guidelines relating to the nursing
profession.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
(a) To initiate, guide, coordinate and monitor the formulation and
implementation of policies, plans and guidelines relating to the
nursing profession.
(b) To guide and monitor the in-service training and professional
development of nurses.
(c) To guide and monitor the deployment and utilization of nurses in
the Public Service.
(d) To Institute and maintain professional mechanism for
coordinating with other stakeholders on the development and
management of the nurses.
(e) Ensuring appropriate recruitment and adequate deployment of
Nursing Staff in all Government Units.
Key result areas
(a) Policies have had a considerable effect/impact on improving
professionalism, working conditions, and service delivery.
(b) Strategies have been effective in achieving objectives
(c) Access to information, new skills, shared knowledge that has led
to improvements in the nursing profession as a result of
networking with national and international bodies
(d) Nurses have been deployed in a timely manner and to the right
places and this deployment has led to improvement in service
delivery
(e) A professional mechanism has been instituted and its results
include professional nurses who are offering a quality service,
cooperation with stakeholders that enhances effective lobbying for
improvements in nursing
(f) Adequately competent nurses have been recruited, deployed to the
right stations, and this action has led to improvements in service
delivery
