1.2.6 Coordination and Collaboration
Every nurse works independently, collaborating and coordinating on
needs and interventions so that the final care plan is one that truly
meets the patient’s needs.
1.2.7 Research
Nurses are individuals who mostly observe patients and clients in health
and illness. If nurses’ interventions are shared with other people
through publications then better health policies can be developed on
researched evidence
2.0 AIM AND OBJECTIVES
2.1 AIM
The general aim of the scheme of service is to streamline the functions
and requirements for the nursing profession in order to clearly delineate
career development and progression for the nurses in the Public Service.
2.2 Specific Objectives
i) To provide for a clearly defined career progression necessary to
attract and retain suitably qualified nursing personnel into the
Public Service.
ii) To provide for a well defined job descriptions and person
specifications for all nursing jobs.
iii) To promote and protect nursing as a profession.
2.3 Guiding Principles
The scheme of Service is based on the following principles:-
i) Continuous skills development;
ii) promotion of the nursing profession and career development; and
iii) cost efficiency and effectiveness.
