area, encouraging visitors to use this form <strong>of</strong> transportation to<br />

and from the site.<br />

In terms <strong>of</strong> the proposed street grid, a dedicated bicycle lane<br />

is recommended only for streets that do not allow on-street<br />

parking. <strong>Falls</strong> <strong>Church</strong> should work to expand the bicycle<br />

network to and from both the West and East <strong>Falls</strong> <strong>Church</strong><br />

Metro Stations—along Route 7 and Roosevelt Boulevard—to<br />

facilitate easy access to and from the area for both visitors<br />

and commuters.<br />

Public Transit<br />

Figure 4.1 delineates two local circulators designed to serve<br />

the major origins and destinations within the study area.<br />

Proposed Circulator A would serve the east side <strong>of</strong> the study<br />

area, while Proposed Circulator B would serve the west side;<br />

potential bus stops for both circulators are marked in the<br />

map. Both transit services would provide a connection<br />

between the East <strong>Falls</strong> <strong>Church</strong> Metro Station and the<br />

redevelopment area via North Sycamore Street, which<br />

becomes Roosevelt Boulevard as the services travel south.<br />

Proposed Circulator A would travel farther south on Roosevelt<br />

Boulevard before turning left on the new street labeled “C” in<br />

the map. The shuttle would operate in a counter-clockwise<br />

loop around the site with the proposed movie theater and<br />

take Roosevelt Boulevard north back to the Metro station. This<br />

shuttle would serve the southern portion <strong>of</strong> the Roosevelt and<br />

Wilson Boulevards redevelopment site, as well as the strip <strong>of</strong><br />

ground level retail/residential mixed use developments<br />

proposed farther north on Roosevelt Boulevard. This circulator<br />

would not necessarily need to run in both directions since it is a
