Standard of repairs and maintenance<br />

Maintenance was an issue for most of the group who resented paying<br />

for poor quality caretaking and cleaning:<br />

“My maintenance bill is £1,000 per year. I have friends who live in<br />

private blocks who pay the same amount and their blocks are<br />

immaculate. Ours are littered and there’s brown stuff on the walls.<br />

They contract people to do the cleaning etc but they do a rubbish<br />

job”.<br />

“We get bills for sweeping. Every year we’re charged – we don’t even<br />

have a caretaker! The road sweepers were doing the job instead. It’s a<br />

complete farce.”<br />
