C.2.3 Formwork Removal, Detensioning, And Measurements<br />
After the metal <strong>for</strong>ms were removed, the DEMEC steel embedment strips were<br />
unscrewed and stripped out. Initial DEMEC readings were taken. After all strands were cut, the<br />
“release” concrete surface strain, VWSG, and deflection readings and subsequent readings were<br />
recorded. After prestress release, the girders were moved to a storage area and placed on<br />
wooden dunnage located at the centers of bearing (6 inches from each end). While in storage,<br />
Georgia Tech researchers took readings as outlined in Chapter 5 to examine transfer length<br />
(Figure C.17).<br />

C.2.4 Completion of Construction at Structures Laboratory<br />
After curing <strong>for</strong> approximately 3-4 weeks at the Tindall Plant, the girders were<br />
transported on flatbed trucks to the Georgia Tech Structures Lab. In the lab, the girders were<br />
stored as they had been at the concrete plant. One final set of surface strain, VWSG, and<br />
C-10
