6.3 Conclusions Regarding Prestress Losses
Except for the AASHTO lump sum and PCI methods for 8,000-psi HPLC, each of the
four methods for estimating prestress losses overestimated the total losses measured in 8,000-psi
and 10,000-psi HPLC AASHTO Type II prestressed girders. The under-estimates for the
AASHTO lump sum and PCI methods for the 8,000 psi girders were less than 2 percent. This
means that each of the four methods may be conservatively used to predict prestress losses in
HPLC girders.
