deflection readings were taken upon arrival and prior to beginning deck construction. Two weeks<br />

after the girders were delivered to the Georgia Tech Structures Lab, composite decks were cast<br />

on each girder. The concept <strong>for</strong> deck placement was to cast the entire deck on all six girders in<br />

one placement. Figure C.18 shows a cross section of the <strong>for</strong>mwork used to place the composite<br />

decks.<br />

The type of concrete used <strong>for</strong> the composite deck was the standard Georgia Department<br />

of Transportation 3,500 psi normal weight bridge deck mix. Thomas <strong>Concrete</strong>, of Atlanta,<br />

Georgia delivered the concrete to the Structures Lab in readymix trucks.<br />

C.3 Direct Pull-Out Test<br />

During girder placement, 24-inch x 36-inch x 24-inch specimen blocks were cast from<br />

the G1 and G2 series mixes <strong>for</strong> the “Mostafa”prestressing strand direct pull-out test as shown in<br />

Figure C.19.<br />
