Prerequisites and Requirem<strong>en</strong>tsThe Typical Scholarship Hol<strong>de</strong>r:• Works either for a public authority or a state or private company in a <strong>de</strong>veloping countryand, as such, is <strong>en</strong>gaged in the planning and execution of directives and projects withemphasis on <strong>de</strong>velopm<strong>en</strong>t policies having a bearing on technological, economic or socialareas.• Holds a Bachelor’s <strong>de</strong>gree (four years) in a related subject.• Has completed an aca<strong>de</strong>mic <strong>de</strong>gree with far above average results (upper third) and atleast two years of related professional experi<strong>en</strong>ce.• Is no ol<strong>de</strong>r than 36 (for some courses the age limit is 32), respectively his/her aca<strong>de</strong>mic<strong>de</strong>grees should normally not be more than six years old. Concerning a possible age limit,please refer to the course <strong>de</strong>tails on the following pages.Language Skills:• For courses in German: DSH 2 or TestDaF 4; at time of application German skills at completedlevel A2 are required. In addition, German language courses at level A2 or B1 arehighly recomm<strong>en</strong><strong>de</strong>d.• Exception: Candidates for some German-speaking or bilingual courses need a verygood command of German at the time of application. For <strong>de</strong>tailed information see therelevant course <strong>de</strong>scription on the following pages.• Note: It is not possible to pass the required German language courses (DSH or TestDaF)without any previous basic knowledge in the German language (at least A.2.1 Level),ev<strong>en</strong> with the preceding six-month, int<strong>en</strong>sive course in Germany.
