Stuttgart is a good choice for international students, as theyaccount for around 22 per cent of the student body, which is the highestratio of any Germany city.A well-planned system of infrastructure facilities is the primary prerequisitefor development in any country. There is a pressing internationalneed for professionals capable of directing the conception, planningand construction of infrastructure facilities for transportation, waterand waste management on the urban as well as on the regional level,while integrating economic, social, ecological and managementaspects.With the Master’s Programme Infrastructure Planning, the Universityof Stuttgart has been offering an internationally acclaimed Master ofScience programme since 1983. Faculty members from different institutesand experienced practitioners offer their knowledge to a limitednumber of 40 students per session. Special emphasis is placed on aninterdisciplinary approach to planning in an intercultural context, whichscale and complex projects, especially in international project cooperation.Programme structure and content:The tightly structured programme is divided into four semesters.modules to broaden the professional horizon, the second semesteroffers a variety of electives to the advanced students. In the thirdsemester, besides additional electives, an extensive case study dealswith the complex problems of infrastructure planning and the challengesof interdisciplinary teamwork. Intensive group work provides trainingin methods and techniques applied successfully in Germany.
