Inculcating <strong>Islamic</strong> InputAttitude:The general attitude for all Muslims,including health providers, is describedin the following verse,“O my dear son! Lo! though it be but theweight <strong>of</strong> a grain <strong>of</strong> mustard-seed, andthough it be in a rock, or in the heavens,or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth.Lo! Allah is Subtle, Aware <strong>of</strong> all things.O my dear son! establish worship andenjoin kindness and forbid iniquity,and persevere whatever may befall you.Lo! this is firmness(<strong>of</strong> purpose) in (theconduct <strong>of</strong> affairs”. Turn not your cheekin scorn toward folk, nor walk withpertness in the land. Lo! Allah loves noteach braggart boaster. Be modest in yourbearing and subdue your voice. Lo! theharshest <strong>of</strong> all voices is the voice <strong>of</strong> theass.” (33)The Qur’an suggests ProphetMuhammad (PBUH) as a role model byattesting,“And lo! you are <strong>of</strong> a tremendouscharacter.” (34)Attitude training models can beextracted from the Qur’an by analyzingthe following verses that describe thestages <strong>of</strong> explanation, partial restrictionand total prohibition for drinkingintoxicants.“They question you about intoxicants andgames <strong>of</strong> chance. Say: in both is great sinand (some) utility for men; but the sin <strong>of</strong>them is greater than their usefulness” (35)“O you who believe! Draw not near untoprayer when ye are drunken, till youknow that which you utter”, (36)-O you who believe! Intoxicants andgames <strong>of</strong> chance and idols and diviningarrows are only an infamy <strong>of</strong> Satan’shandiwork. Leave it aside in order thatyou may succeed. (37)“Satan seeks only to cast amongyou enmity and hatred by means <strong>of</strong>intoxicants and games <strong>of</strong> chance, andto turn you from remembrance <strong>of</strong> Allahand from (His) worship. Will you thenabstain?” (38)Qur’anic model <strong>of</strong> affectivedomain trainingExplanationProhibitionRestrictionKnowledge:It is a well known fact that humanbrain contains 100 billion neuronsand 100 trillion neuronal connectionsand information is stored in theseconnections.
