Payment of <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g amounts: RD$1,800 for medical check, RD$500 forapplication fee, RD$250 for stamps and RD$20.00 for <strong>the</strong> form B-1-A.The provisional residence card may be obta<strong>in</strong>ed with<strong>in</strong> three to four months andis valid for one year. Upon its expiration <strong>the</strong> applicant may request a permanentresidence card, which is valid for renewable periods of three years. Foreignerswith permanent residence <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> country may obta<strong>in</strong> a personal identity card.All <strong>do</strong>cuments issued abroad which are filed at <strong>the</strong> M<strong>in</strong>istry of Foreign Relationsor at <strong>the</strong> Immigration Office must be legalized by <strong>the</strong> competent authorities of<strong>the</strong> country of orig<strong>in</strong> and by <strong>the</strong> closest Dom<strong>in</strong>ican Consulate. Fur<strong>the</strong>rmore, aJudicial Interpreter must translate <strong>do</strong>cuments not written <strong>in</strong> Spanish.126RESIDENCE PROGRAM FOR INVESTORSThe Center for Export and Investment (CEI-RD) has <strong>in</strong>troduced a special programfor foreign <strong>in</strong>vestors <strong>in</strong> order to accelerate <strong>the</strong> process of obta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>gDom<strong>in</strong>ican residence.This program applies to foreign <strong>in</strong>vestment made <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> country, by a physical orlegal person,<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> form of a contribution to <strong>the</strong> capital of a company established<strong>in</strong> accordance with <strong>the</strong> laws of <strong>the</strong> Dom<strong>in</strong>ican <strong>Republic</strong>, for an amount of at leastUS$200,000.00 or its equivalent <strong>in</strong> local currency.The contribution may be made<strong>in</strong> capital, <strong>in</strong> k<strong>in</strong>d, <strong>in</strong> f<strong>in</strong>ancial <strong>in</strong>struments or technology, as established <strong>in</strong> Law16-95 of Foreign Investment.The beneficiaries of <strong>the</strong> program are <strong>the</strong> foreign <strong>in</strong>vestors and <strong>the</strong>ir employees(managers, technicians), as well as <strong>the</strong>ir families and economic dependents.The request must be filed with <strong>the</strong> Foreign Investment Desk of <strong>the</strong> ImmigrationOffice, which shall issue <strong>the</strong> residence permit with<strong>in</strong> 45 days at <strong>the</strong> latest.The<strong>do</strong>cuments to be filed with <strong>the</strong> application are <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g:a. Application Form of residence for <strong>in</strong>vestors, which is available free of chargeat <strong>the</strong> Foreign Investment Desk of <strong>the</strong> Immigration Office;b. Copy of complete orig<strong>in</strong>al passport, valid for at least three months. If <strong>the</strong> lastentry is not registered <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> passport, a certification of <strong>the</strong> last entry issuedby <strong>the</strong> Immigration Office must be also filed;c. Valid entry permit (visa or tourist card);d. Orig<strong>in</strong>al birth certificate;e. Proof of Foreign Investment Registration or registration request.f. Police Record issued by <strong>the</strong> competent Dom<strong>in</strong>ican authorities or by <strong>the</strong>authorities of <strong>the</strong> country of orig<strong>in</strong> if <strong>the</strong> applicant has been for less than 30days <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> country;g. Receipt of payment of medical exam<strong>in</strong>ations issued by a physician certifiedby <strong>the</strong> Immigration Office;h. Eleven 2" x 2"photographs (seven frontal and four side) for persons older
