Part 7 Modification Approvala.) Modification approval. A n a pplication to modify a pool m ust be s ubmitted t o a ndapproved by the department prior to the modification being made. All modifications shall bein a ccordance w ith pl ans a nd s pecifications a pproved b y t he de partment. C hanges i n a napproved p roject m ay b e m ade onl y after w ritten a pproval <strong>and</strong> t he w ritten c onsent o f t hedepartment. Any a dditional da ta required b y t he de partment f or pur pose of clarification,anticipated use or to support the design or scope of the project must be submitted prior toissuance of a permit to modify. Permits to modify are not transferable. A permit to modify apool is required be<strong>for</strong>e any major modification. Modification permits shall be effective <strong>for</strong>twelve (12) months from date of issuance or until the expiration date on the permit. Writtennotification shall be ma de to the d epartment f or a ll ot her m odifications. R eplacement ofexisting, approved equipment with the same approved equipment (i.e., same manufacturer,model number, capacity, <strong>and</strong> similar specifications) will not require a permit to modify. Ifthe replacement equipment is not the same as the existing equipment, then a permit, alongwith submittal of the fee, specification sheet(s), <strong>and</strong> any other data deemed necessary by thedepartment, is required prior to commencement of any work. A renovation shall be subject tothe same requirements <strong>for</strong> permitting as <strong>for</strong> major modifications.b.) Invalid permit. If modifications are not commenced by the expiration date of the permit,the permit expires <strong>and</strong> the project must be resubmitted to the department be<strong>for</strong>e work maycommence. A written request <strong>for</strong> an extension of time prior to the expiration of the permit tocommence a modification may be approved by the department if no changes to the projectare proposed or required.c.) Renovation approval. A r enovation s hall be s ubject t o t he s ame requirements f orpermitting as <strong>for</strong> modification approval above.d.) Fees. A permit fee shall be submitted with the application <strong>for</strong> a major modification orrenovation. A fee shall be charged <strong>for</strong> each re-inspection, if necessary, after the initial <strong>and</strong>follow-up inspections.Part 8 Operational Approvala.) Permit required. N o pe rson or permit hol der shall ope rate a pool , artificial s wimminglagoon, or a natural bathing place without having first applied <strong>for</strong> <strong>and</strong> obtained a valid permitto operate from the department. A permit to operate a pool may be suspended or revoked <strong>for</strong>any violation of this article. Any swimming pool operating without a valid permit from thedepartment s hall be s ubject to immediate c losure. Each i ndividually t reated pool s halloperate under a separate permit.b.) Permit nontransferable. Permits a re not t ransferable f rom one pe rson t o a nother orfrom one entity to another.c.) Permit <strong>and</strong> current inspection report displayed. The op erating p ermit <strong>and</strong> currentinspection report shall be displayed in a conspicuous place so that it is easily readable by the<strong>Cobb</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Douglas</strong> <strong>County</strong> Public Health<strong>Douglas</strong> <strong>Rules</strong> <strong>and</strong> Regs <strong>for</strong> <strong>Swimming</strong> <strong>Pools</strong>13
