Part 24 Wading <strong>Pools</strong>a.) Application. A ll s ections of thi s a rticle s hall a pply to wading pool s in a ddition t o t hefollowing provisions:b.) Construction.(1) Location. A w ading pool m ust be l ocated s o t hat a l ifeguard or op erator m ayeasily keep bathers under surveillance. A wading pool must be located adjacent tothe shallow end of any other pool. If a s eparate ba rrier i s i nstalled <strong>for</strong> the wadingpool area, then clear visibility through the wading pool barrier shall be provided.(2) Depth. The depth of a wading pool shall not exceed eighteen inches (18").(3) Slope. The bottom slope shall not be more than one foot (1') in twelve feet (12').Wading pools shall be completely self-draining.(4) Walk areas <strong>and</strong> decks. A minimum of ten feet (10’) of complying deck surfaceshall separate a wading pool from any part of any other pool, as measured from thewading pool edge to another, nearest pool edge.(5) Lighting. Underwater lighting is not required <strong>for</strong> wading pools, but other lightingrequirements, as stated in the section “Lighting”, shall be required.c.) Circulation system.(1) Circulation. The c irculation e quipment s hall be ope rated c ontinuously on atwenty-four ( 24) hour b asis t o a chieve t he m inimum r equirement of on e t urnoverevery two (2) hours. Fill <strong>and</strong> draw-type wading pools are prohibited from use.(2) Skimmers. One skimmer shall be provided <strong>for</strong> each two hundred square feet (200s.f.) of wading pool surface area or fraction thereof. Equalizer lines shall be installedat the lowest portion of the wall or in the floor, <strong>and</strong> be covered by a properly secured,approved grate.(3) Inlets. A minimum of two (2) adjustable inlets shall be provided. The number ofinlets shall be calculated based on one inlet per ten feet (10’) or major fraction thereofof pool perimeter. Inlets shall be evenly spaced either along the pool perimeter or onthe pool floor. Wall inlets shall be placed as close to the pool floor as possible.(4) Life-saving equipment.
