athing facility <strong>and</strong> adjoining deck area <strong>for</strong> the purpose of water sports, recreation, therapy orrelated activities. Bather is also referred to as a user.“Bathhouse” means a facility that contains toilet rooms, shower rooms, <strong>and</strong> dressing roomsto be used by swimmers be<strong>for</strong>e <strong>and</strong> after swimming.“Bathing load” m eans the m aximum num ber of ba thers a llowed w ithin the pool enclosurebased on the amount of the pool’s water surface area or use restrictions.“Certified Pool Contractor” means a person who:(1) engages in the design, construction or renovation of a swimming pool governedby this article; <strong>and</strong>(2) has passed an examination demonstrating his or her familiarity with this article;<strong>and</strong>(3) consistently complies with this article; <strong>and</strong>(4) possesses a current business license <strong>and</strong> valid certification from the department.“Closed pool” means a pool, including all areas within the pool enclosure that is inaccessibleto bathers by closing <strong>and</strong> securing all entry points into the pool enclosure, <strong>and</strong> is posted witha conspicuous sign “Pool Closed” at each entry point, as ordered by the department.“Deck” means t he ar eas i mmediately adj acent t o a pool , i ncluding t he coping t hat a reconstructed specifically <strong>for</strong> bathers to st<strong>and</strong> walk or sit upon.“Deep area or deep end” means the area of a pool where the water depths exceed five feet(5’).“Department” means the <strong>Douglas</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of Health or its authorized representative(s).“Design flow rate” m eans t he a mount of water i n ga llons pa ssing a specific poi nt in thepool’s circulation system in a given time in minutes, expressed as gallons per minute(g. p. m.).“Hypo-chlorinator” means a m echanical/electrical device <strong>for</strong> dispensing chlorine in a liquidstate in measured doses.“Imminent health hazard” means a t hreat or danger to health or safety that is considered toexist w hen there i s evi dence s ufficient t o show that a pr oduct, practice, ci rcumstance, orevent creates a situation that merits immediate correction or cessation of operation to preventinjury or illness.“Infinity/vanishing edge pool means a pool with a portion of one wall constructed to allowpool water to skim over the top of a pool wall.“Interactive play device” means any manufactured apparatus using sprayed, jetted, or othertype of water source that contacts bathers in a non-threatening manner.<strong>Cobb</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Douglas</strong> <strong>County</strong> Public Health<strong>Douglas</strong> <strong>Rules</strong> <strong>and</strong> Regs <strong>for</strong> <strong>Swimming</strong> <strong>Pools</strong>4
