(3) Separate pools. If each pool i s de signed to be ph ysically s eparated, t hen eachportion of a n i ndoor-outdoor pool s hall be c onsidered as a s eparate pool , a nd e achportion or pool shall be designed <strong>and</strong> constructed with its own, separate circulationsystem, a ppurtenances, de cking, s afety e quipment, a nd ot her r equired e quipment i naccordance with this article.(4) Ingress <strong>and</strong> Egress. The pools, deck <strong>and</strong> the physical separation between the twopools shall be designed <strong>and</strong> constructed to enable ready access <strong>and</strong> egressPart 30 Infinity / Vanishing Edge <strong>Pools</strong>a.) Construction. In a ddition t o the s t<strong>and</strong>ards w ithin t his s ection, infinity/vanishing e dgepools s hall c omply with all ot her applicable s t<strong>and</strong>ards i n this cod e. The l ength of aninfinity/vanishing edge shall not exceed thirty-five percent (35%) of the total pool perimeteror fifty percent (50%) of the total whirlpool perimeter. A deck, meeting the requirements ofPart 9 , “Construction,” h.) Deck, s hall c ompletely s urround t he e ntire pool i ncluding t heinfinity/vanishing edge portion of the pool. The maximum external wall descent elevationshall not exceed twelve inches (12”) as measured from the top of the edge to the surface ofdeck. The top surface of the edge must be level, smooth, non-abrasive, <strong>and</strong> have a minimumradius of one inch (1”). An adequately-sized water collection device or trough, protected byan approved grating or other approved cover, shall be installed at the bottom of the exterioredge wall <strong>and</strong> return pool water to the pool’s circulation system by gravity flow.Part 31 Interactive Play Devicesa.) Construction. T he interactive play device’s design <strong>and</strong> construction shall provide <strong>for</strong> asafe <strong>and</strong> sanitary recreational environment <strong>for</strong> its users. All interactive play equipment shallcon<strong>for</strong>m t o s t<strong>and</strong>ards s et f orth b y t he m ost r ecent e dition of t he U .S. C onsumer P roductSafety Commission, “H<strong>and</strong>book <strong>for</strong> Public Playground Safety,” which the department adoptsherein b y t his reference, or t he m ost r ecent e dition of t he A merican S ociety <strong>for</strong> T estingMaterials, “St<strong>and</strong>ard Consumer Safety Per<strong>for</strong>mance Specification <strong>for</strong> Playground Equipment<strong>for</strong> Public Use,” which the department also adopts herein by this reference, <strong>and</strong> in accordancewith t he m anufacturer’s i nstructions f or i nstallation a nd ope ration, <strong>and</strong> a pproved b y t hedepartment. Interactive play devices shall be designed, installed, <strong>and</strong> maintained so that thesurfaces are smooth, self-draining, non-toxic <strong>and</strong> easily cleanable. The devices shall not posea health or safety hazard to users or bathers, <strong>and</strong> shall not interfere with the circulation ordisinfection of the water.b.) Circulation. A ny apparatus, device or equipment that discharges water into the pool orthat uses the pool as a source of water <strong>for</strong> the operation of the device shall either use onlywater t hat ha s be en filtered a nd di sinfected p rior t o be ing di scharged into a pool , or s hallhave a separate disinfection system <strong>for</strong> the device approved by the department. If water <strong>for</strong>the device is not taken directly from the pool, then the water <strong>for</strong> the device shall be circulatedthrough a separate system consisting of pump(s), filter(s), disinfection equipment, <strong>and</strong> other<strong>Cobb</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Douglas</strong> <strong>County</strong> Public Health<strong>Douglas</strong> <strong>Rules</strong> <strong>and</strong> Regs <strong>for</strong> <strong>Swimming</strong> <strong>Pools</strong>42
