On-site sewage management systems.“Turnover rate” or “turnover” m eans t he p eriod of t ime r equired to circulate a vol ume ofwater equal to the pool capacity.“Wading pool” m eans a ny shallow pool eighteen i nches (18”) or l ess i n de pth used ordesigned to be used <strong>for</strong> wading or bathing.“Wave pool” means a pool that has a m echanical means <strong>for</strong> generating waves at one end ofthe pool, typically the deepest portion, with the waves ending at the other end of the pool,typically a zero-depth entry point.“Watercourse pool” m eans a “ pool” a s d efined i n t his s ection i n w hich w ater i s m ovingcontinuously from one point to another, which users may be partially or wholly submerged,<strong>and</strong> us ers m ay float w ith or w ithout i nner t ubes, r afts, or ot her s imilar a pproved w aterflotation devices. This type of pool is commonly known as a lazy river.“Water slide,” “slide,” or “flume” means an y d evice ha ving a w ater ch annel, <strong>for</strong> users t oenter into a splash pool.“Weir” means a device within a skimmer that adjusts automatically to small changes in waterlevel <strong>and</strong> assures a continuous water flow to the skimmer.“Whirlpool” means a po ol, s pa, hot t ub, or ot her s imilar s tructure, w hich m ay b e us ed i nconjunction with tempered water <strong>and</strong> air induction or high velocity water circulation systems,<strong>and</strong> designed <strong>for</strong> use by a small number of bathers. (Whirlpools that are emptied <strong>and</strong> cleanedafter each individual use are exempt from regulation under this article.)“Year-round pool” means a pool that is opened <strong>and</strong> available <strong>for</strong> use throughout the calendaryear.“Zero-depth entry pool” m eans a t ype of pool i n w hich t he pool f loor i ntersects t he poolwater surface.Part 4 Approval Requireda.) Department Approval. It shall be unlawful <strong>for</strong> any person to construct, alter, modify oroperate a swimming pool or natural bathing place without having applied <strong>for</strong> <strong>and</strong> receivedwritten approval from the <strong>Douglas</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of Health.b.) Other approvals. Any person constructing, operating or modifying a pool must complywith all other applicable regulations <strong>and</strong> codes.c.) Use restrictions. T he department may set use restrictions on a ny pool <strong>and</strong> shall require<strong>Cobb</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Douglas</strong> <strong>County</strong> Public Health<strong>Douglas</strong> <strong>Rules</strong> <strong>and</strong> Regs <strong>for</strong> <strong>Swimming</strong> <strong>Pools</strong>7
