For a n out door w ater-slide us ed a t ni ght or <strong>for</strong> a n i ndoor w aterslide,adequate lighting shall be provided <strong>for</strong> all areas of the flume, in accordance with theSection, “Lighting.”(9) Volume of pump reservoirs. The pump reservoirs shall have sufficient volume, inaccordance w ith t he m anufacturer’s i nstructions, t o c ontain e nough w ater t o i nsurethat the low er s plash pool w ill ma intain a c onstant w ater d epth. An a pproved,automatic ma ke-up w ater de vice, with ba ckflow pr evention, s hall be pr ovided f oreach reservoir.c.) Circulation system. A water circulation system consisting of pumps, piping, filters, waterconditioning, <strong>and</strong> disinfection equipment <strong>and</strong> other accessory equipment shall be provided inorder to clarify, condition <strong>and</strong> disinfect the splash pool volume of water or water circulatedthrough a run out, <strong>and</strong> all water used <strong>for</strong> the slide. T he equipment shall be operated on atwenty-four (24) hour basis to obtain the minimum one (1) turnover every hour.d.) Suction outlets <strong>and</strong> fittings. If suction outlets a nd fittings separate f rom t he ci rculationsystem’s main drains are used <strong>for</strong> make-up water <strong>for</strong> the slide, they shall be located at thelowest portion of the splash pool; or may be installed in the lowest portion of the splash poolwall oppos ite f rom t he flume t erminus; or , i f u sed, a t t he l owest por tion of t he run outopposite of t he f ume t erminus. Suction out lets a nd f ittings s hall comply with t herequirements <strong>for</strong> m ain d rains i n Part 11 , “Circulation Systems” <strong>and</strong> Part 12 , “Piping a ndHydraulics” of this article. The circulation system main drains shall be located at the lowestportion of the splash pool.e.) Bathing load. The bathing load shall be calculated on t he basis of one (1) person in theminimum r equired s plash pool s urface a rea, a nd a m aximum of one ( 1) pe rson f or e verythirty square feet (30 s. f.) of pool surface area in those areas of the splash pool that exceedthe minimum required splash pool area. If the slide is a component of a pool other than adedicated splash pool, then the bathing load is one (1) person in the minimum required splashpool area, <strong>and</strong> the remaining pool area shall comply with Part 9, “Construction”, c.), Size.f.) Safety. At least one person responsible <strong>for</strong> the operation of the slide shall monitor <strong>and</strong> bestationed at the bottom of the slide at all times the slide is open <strong>for</strong> use. If that person’s viewof the slide’s entry is obscured at any point, then a second slide operator shall monitor <strong>and</strong> bestationed at the slide’s entry point, or if the length of the slide or flume exceeds thirty feet(30’) in length. A pproved signage shall be posted that states; that at any time, only one (1)bather, or device with bathers such as a raft, shall be allowed on the slide after the previoususer or raft has exited the splash pool or run-out; only one bather or device with bathers, suchas a raft, shall be allowed on t he plat<strong>for</strong>m to the slide; <strong>and</strong> only one bather or device withbathers such as a raft shall be allowed in the splash pool. Slide monitors shall en<strong>for</strong>ce theserules. A key-operated, properly grounded switch to operate the pump supplying water to theslide shall be installed on the deck near the slide. An emergency cut-off switch <strong>for</strong> the slide<strong>Cobb</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Douglas</strong> <strong>County</strong> Public Health<strong>Douglas</strong> <strong>Rules</strong> <strong>and</strong> Regs <strong>for</strong> <strong>Swimming</strong> <strong>Pools</strong>40
